Go Behind the Seams and meet Hino Ehikhamenor, the professional boxer and master trainer using fashion to inspire a champion mindset.

Discipline shaped the King Hino brand long before fashion became part of the picture.

Today, founder Hino Ehikhamenor moves between fashion, elite coaching, and motivational speaking. Whether training athletes or designing streetwear, the philosophy behind the brand remains the same: resilience, self-belief, and pushing yourself beyond your own limitations.

"What does King Hino mean? It's the story of my life, the story of the underdog that's built on resilience."

From Nigeria to New York, from boxing gyms to celebrity training, every chapter of Hino's journey has shaped the mentality that now sits at the center of the brand.

"Everything that I pass down is just a lesson that I've learned. You can go in a room and preach to 30 kids and if one kid takes that lesson with them, your job is done."

The making of King Hino

Before fashion, before celebrity training, and before the King Hino title, there was boxing.

After moving from Nigeria to Queens, New York in his early teens, Hino found discipline and confidence through sport. Basketball and soccer came first, but boxing became the focus that shaped the rest of his life.

"Boxing is the only sport where you don't have to go to school, you don't have to go to college, and you could be an overnight success. My favorite thing is the language. I can walk into any boxing gym in the world and everybody embraces you because they know what it takes to be a fighter."

That determination translated into a successful boxing career. Hino competed in 55 amateur fights, joined the USA Boxing Team in 1998, competed on the 4th series of The Contender, and went on to build a professional career defined by relentless determination.

After more than two decades in boxing, Hino began applying the same philosophy that shaped his career to coaching others, transitioning into work as a master trainer. Over time, his coaching style became known for pushing people mentally as much as physically. The workouts mattered, but mindset mattered more.

"Success is a way to inspire other people. I came from the same projects as you. I came from the same Africa as you with no running water, no electricity, no internet. And look how I'm living."

Bringing the King Hino vision to life with Tapstitch

For years, Hino wanted to expand his brand and launch a clothing line. The vision was already there, but like many first-time founders, the biggest barrier was execution.

"I had lots of ideas, but Pharrell Williams said to me, ‘Nobody cares about your ideas unless they can be executed.' But most things that can be executed need finance, and you know how it is when you're coming out of pocket. If I didn't have a sponsorship or a collab with somebody, then I wasn't doing it."

That changed when he found Tapstitch's fashion-on-demand model.

Traditional clothing production often comes with high upfront costs, large minimum orders, and endless time spent sourcing products, materials, and manufacturers before you can even begin creating.

Tapstitch gave Hino a different way to build.

"When I did my research on Tapstitch, I was like, whoa, they're doing everything that I want to do exactly. I just have to give them my ideas. It took away a lot of the pressure."

For the first time, creating a clothing brand felt achievable.

Instead of spending months navigating production logistics, Hino was able to focus on building the message behind the brand, turning years of ideas, motivation, and personal philosophy into something people could actually wear.

Where style meets mindset

For Hino, the look isn't separate from the mindset behind the brand, it's part of it.

The cuts, silhouettes, and feel of the clothing all matter. Tapstitch gave him the ability to build clothing that matched that standard.

"If you're coming from New York City, you better have style. That's the first thing people look at. Tapstitch is super stylish. I love the cuts, I love how trendy it is, the diversity of the clothes. Anybody can wear Tapstitch, that's what's beautiful about it."

That versatility is central to the King Hino identity. Oversized hoodies, heavyweight fabrics, and elevated silhouettes: clothing designed to look trendy without sacrificing comfort.

And with every King Hino design, fashion becomes a vehicle for mindset.

"I want you to be comfortable but still fashionable. I want people to have 5% of King Hino, to feel that greatness I feel. The quotes on my clothing are messages that I live by and that I preach. We all have greatness in us, but we just have to tap into it."

Building a legitimate brand with custom labels

For Hino, one of the biggest advantages of Tapstitch was legitimacy.

Instead of spending time sourcing garments or figuring out production, he could focus entirely on building the brand itself. Details like custom woven labels transformed the pieces from simple printed garments into something that felt fully his own.

The catalog already matched the style he wanted. Adding his own labels to the garments elevated that even further, giving the brand an identity that felt real from the inside out.

"Tapstitch meets you halfway. You don't have to look for blanks, you don't have to look for material. I have my own label. That's huge, that's next level. It's so simple."

What's next for King Hino?

The King Hino brand continues to grow alongside Hino's wider mission: helping people reach their potential by channeling his mindset.

Alongside expanding his clothing range, Hino continues to work as a master trainer and motivational speaker, with celebrity clients including Drake, Usher, and Alicia Keys. His unique approach extends beyond physical training, focused on developing the same mentality that shaped his boxing career.

Currently travelling internationally alongside Ne-Yo to ensure peak tour performance, Hino continues building relationships with gyms and communities across the globe, expanding the King Hino philosophy worldwide.

And he has no plans of slowing down.

"Success is the best revenge. Look at all the years of hard work and dedication that I've put in. All those days waking up at 5am, it finally paid off. They told me I couldn't be a fashion designer, but look at me now."
